Drapery Cleaning
Not every carpet stain can be removed, even by the most skilled professional cleaners. Any reputable commercial or domestic cleaning company will tell a potential customer up front whether the stain in question is permanent. However, even some very tough stains can be lessened with the right type of cleaning. Sometimes, a faded, reduced appearance is better than nothing. Of course, many carpet stains are removable. Some can even be removed at home with simple cleansing methods. Others require more intensive professional work to get out.
The most important thing to remember when a liquid stain is new is to never scrub, brush or rub it. This will only make the blotch worse, and may actually cause it to set in the carpet. If setting occurs, the stain may never be able to be removed. While the blotch is still fresh and wet, a sturdy paper towel should be pressed firmly into it. This will allow the paper towel to absorb much of the stain before it dries. If any discoloration of the carpet still exists after this, the application of a commercial solution may be useful for removing the rest. When using cleaners, it is important to apply them working from the outside of the discolored area inward. Further, a small amount of solution should be used in an out-of-the-way area of the carpet first, to test to see if it will harm the fibers.
